Delete your account
Last updated 5 August 2026
This page covers Quits (Android package cc.quits.app). You can close your account
yourself, from inside the app, without asking us and without waiting. If you can't sign
in any more, write to us and we'll do it for you.
Do it yourself, in the app
- Open Quits and go to the Profile tab.
- Tap Download or delete.
- Tap Delete my account, then type your phone number to confirm.
It happens straight away — there is no queue, no cooling-off period and nothing to undo. Your device is signed out and everything the app had cached on it is wiped.
Take a copy first if you want one. The same screen has Download everything (a JSON file with your profile, every entry you're on, your groups and your address book) and Download as a spreadsheet (every entry as CSV). Once the account is closed we cannot produce either.
If you can't sign in
Lost the phone, lost the number, or uninstalled the app: email privacy@quits.cc and tell us the phone number you signed up with. We will verify the number is yours before we act — otherwise anyone could close your account by guessing — and complete the deletion within 30 days of that confirmation, usually the same week.
One thing has to be true first
You cannot delete an account that still owes money or is still owed money. The app will tell you which balances are open and what they add up to. Settle or write off each one, then delete.
This is not us being difficult. A trip's expenses have to sum to zero across everyone on it; an account that walks away mid-debt makes five other people's numbers wrong, and they never agreed to that.
What is deleted
| Your name | Erased — you appear to others as Deleted account |
| Your phone number | Erased and released, so it can be used to sign up again |
| Your profile photo | The image file is deleted from our storage |
| Your address book | Every person you added, and every entry you were in somebody else's list |
| Your devices | All push tokens; the app can never notify you again |
| Your notifications | The whole history, erased |
| Your group memberships | You are removed from every group, so you stop appearing in pickers |
What stays, and why we're telling you
Expenses you shared with other people remain on their ledgers, with your name and number stripped out of them. We can't remove them: an entry is as much the other person's record of what they paid as it is yours, and deleting it would silently change what they are owed by somebody who is no longer around to explain it. What we can do — and do — is make sure nothing personal about you is left attached to it.
Your history does not come back. If you later sign up with the same number, you get a clean, empty account. The old entries stay where they are, anonymous. Deletion is not a pause.
