Terms of use

Last updated 4 August 2026

These terms cover the Quits app and quits.cc. By using either, you agree to them. They are written to be read, not to be skipped.

What Quits is

A record of money between people. You write down what was lent, borrowed and shared, and Quits works out who owes whom and the fewest payments that would settle it.

What Quits is not

It is not a payment service. Quits cannot move money. It has no access to your bank, your UPI or your cards, and it never will as part of this product. When the app says "Raj owes you ₹500", you still have to be paid.

It is not a lender, a broker or a financial adviser. Nothing in the app is regulated financial advice, and we are not a party to any arrangement between you and anyone else.

It is not evidence. The figures in Quits are what you and the people you share with typed in. They are a shared memory, not a contract, an invoice or a legal record of debt. If money genuinely matters to you, keep your own proof.

Your account

You need a working phone number that can receive an SMS. Keep control of it — anyone who can read texts sent to that number can sign in as you. If you are giving the number up, tell us at hello@quits.cc first, and tell us too if you think someone else is in your account.

One person, one account. Don't sign in as someone else, and don't use a number that isn't yours.

What you record

You are responsible for what you put into Quits.

  • Record honestly. Entries you add to a group are visible to everyone in it.
  • Only add someone else's phone number — by typing it or by importing it from your contacts — if you are entitled to share it. Importing is your decision, and the people you tick are your responsibility.
  • Only upload a profile photo that is yours to upload.
  • Don't use descriptions to abuse, threaten or harass anyone. Other people read them.
  • Don't use Quits to record anything illegal, or to organise anything illegal.

If someone adds an entry you disagree with, flag it in the app. The entry stays on record with your note attached — we don't arbitrate between two users about who is right, because we weren't there.

Disagreements about money

Money between friends and flatmates goes wrong sometimes. When it does, it is between you and them. Quits is the notebook, not the referee, and we can't adjudicate, recover a debt, or force anyone to pay.

Availability

We try to keep it running. We can't promise it never goes down, and we may change, pause or stop features — including the optional AI ones, which depend on other companies. If we ever shut the service down, we will give notice and a way to get your data out.

The AI features

The plain-English entry, the bill scanner and the summary are generated by machine learning models and are sometimes wrong. That is why every draft is shown to you before anything is saved. Check it. Once you tap save, it is your entry.

Cost

Quits is free. There are no ads and nothing is sold on. If a paid tier ever appears, what you already have will not be taken away without notice.

Liability

Quits is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for money you lose, fail to recover, or pay twice as a result of using it, nor for lost data or lost profits. Nothing here limits liability that cannot legally be limited.

Put plainly: a bug in an app should not decide what you are owed. Keep an eye on your own numbers.

Ending it

You can stop using Quits whenever you like and ask us to delete your account — see the privacy policy. We may suspend an account that abuses these terms or other people.

Changes

If these terms change materially, the date at the top changes and we tell you in the app. Continuing to use Quits after that means you accept the new version.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of India, and the courts of India have exclusive jurisdiction.
